I study how organizations draw on and reshape the building blocks of meaning systems—categories, frames, and evaluation criteria—in seeking favorable audience evaluations and legitimacy. Examining these processes in the context of market emergence, evolution, and decline, I investigate how such meaning systems become established, remain viable, or break down, including through the unintended consequences of organizational action.

I earned my PhD in Management and Organization from the University of Southern California. I also hold an MBA from Seoul National University and a BBA from Yonsei University, both in Seoul, South Korea.
